Abortion can be done by medicines (medical abortion) or by surgery (vacuum aspiration). The method depends on how many weeks pregnant you are. Blood tests and an ultrasound are done first. Every patient is treated with dignity and complete confidentiality.
Medical Abortion
- Best done before 7 weeks of pregnancy
- Mifepristone combined with misoprostol to expel the pregnancy
- Follow-up ultrasound required to confirm completion
- Risk of incomplete abortion increases after 7 weeks, may need surgical follow-up
Surgical Abortion (Vacuum Aspiration)
- Recommended when medical abortion is not suitable
- Suction used to evacuate the uterus safely
- Done under sedation or local anaesthesia
- Short recovery time

- Ultrasound to confirm pregnancy and gestational age
